Meet Kelly from Breathe Into Birth

Hi!

I’m Kelly, a mum of 2 from Central Scotland (Bathgate, West Lothian) and I am just a little bit obsessed with all things pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Having had 2 very different birth and postpartum experiences myself, I totally understand how important this stage of your life is.

Now, I absolutely love using my knowledge and experience to support other women through this time, guiding them towards what is their ideal positive birth and an a more settled transition into postpartum.

I’ve experienced both kinds of birth myself, so when I tell you Hypnobirthing works, it’s because I KNOW it works.

Every course of mine focuses on creating a safe, friendly and relaxed environment to help you feel at ease doing something that may feel out of your comfort zone.

Outside of being a Hypnobirthing teacher (and being a mum) - I’m very much just your average 20-something. I love binge watching Netflix, heading out for pina coladas & mojitos with my best friends, music, true crime podcasts and chasing the sunshine. I’m very much not the “hippy dippy, super spiritual“ person you may think of when you think of Hypnobirthing! But that’s the point. I want to spread the word that it is for EVERYONE. I want to make it the norm for women to be informed and confident, ready to take control of their birth. No matter who they are or what they like!

  • My first birth took me by surprise, with my waters breaking at 35 weeks before I had even finished packing my hospital bags. I had done literally no preparation for birth, going in to it with the mindset of “I’ll just wing it!” and I had no idea what to expect. On arriving at the hospital, I very quickly began to feel out of control of the situation. My choices weren’t explained, I had no understanding of what my body was doing, and I had no tools to assist my body and help keep me calm. When my little girl arrived I was so pleased to have her safely with me but I also felt shell-shocked and uncomfortable with the way my care was handled. Those feelings persisted with me, and made my transition into motherhood more challenging.

So when I fell pregnant the second time around, I instantly knew I had to ensure things were different this time. I poured all the time I had in to learning about birth and was recommended to try Hypnobirthing. The Hypnobirthing course just made it all click for me. It made so much sense, I could clearly see where things had went wrong the first time round and what I wanted to do this time. The knowledge I was gaining was invaluable and I was shocked that I wasn’t taught any of it in the antenatal classes I had been to. I went on to have the most incredible water birth, delivering my son calmly, peacefully and proudly. I felt so powerful, strong and happy. It was a complete 180 compared to my previous birth and I literally wanted to shout from the rooftops about how effective Hypnobirthing had been for me! That wouldn’t have quite been as effective as becoming a Hypnobirthing Teacher though… so here I am!

I have trained with both Katherine Graves Hypnobirthing (KGH) and Love Your Birth to create a bespoke course that is jam packed with birth education whilst still being fun, interactive and engaging.

I offer my courses in both 1-1 and group settings and pride myself on the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere I provide. My Hypnobirthing sessions also offer you a friendly face to turn to throughout your pregnancy and early labour, so you not only feel knowledgable but well supported. I will be there to ensure you feel equipped for birth, can answer any of your questions and offer impartial and level-headed support.
